ENGLAND ATHLETICS CONSULTATIONS

All clubs should have received just before Christmas the latest details of proposals for the restructuring of athletics in England.  A number of open meetings are being held throughout England for you to put your comments and questions to Jack Buckner (who is responsible for drawing up the proposals) and others involved in the project.  This is your chance to make your views known.  The most convenient meeting for Cheshire clubs is at :

Robin Park Stadium, Wigan

on Wednesday, 2 February, 6:30 for 7pm

See you there.

on Saturday, January 15th.  Again Vale Royal AC members, with the Local Council Sports Development personnel, under the direction of Shaun McGrath set out an excellent course which was a bit muddier than a year previous.  I am sure other clubs who have in the past organised these championships must wonder how Shaun gets such a good group of enthusiasts together who get the work done in sufficient time to have refreshments before marshalling the races.  Well done Vale Royal AC.

We wish the Cheshire teams good running at the Inter-county Championships at Nottingham on March 5th.

Eddie Gore (Tel : 0151 513 5606), the Cheshire County AA Coaching Co-ordinator, has asked that a reminder is published to all UKA qualified coaches that their passes are due for renewal in April 2005.  The scheme requires coaches to have attended courses and these to be noted in their pass book.  Eddie has not got a clear answer from UKA as to what happens in the event of not enough credits.  He therefore strongly advises that those who have been on courses to ensure their passes were signed by the course organiser/presenter.  Also to consider going on appropriate courses.

Additional information on suitable courses should also be available from Leonie Lightfoot at Sport Cheshire (contact details in the contacts section)
