Cheshire Track & Field Championships.
Macclesfield, 14 & 15 May
A weekend of good weather, dry but a cold wind on the Saturday, provided the background to what is generally agreed to have been our best Track & Field championships in terms of performances for a number of years. In addition numbers of athletes and event entries were at the same general level as recent years, although the distribution of athletes across events shows some areas of concern. Our thanks again to Carol and John Ashton for acting as Championship Secretaries in what is a mammoth task to sort out the 2 day programme to ensure that no clashes occur for athletes. Also the County’;s thanks to Marian and Peter Allen for sponsoring the photo-finish equipment for electronic timing of track events.
North of England Inter County Track & Field
Most athletes who finished in the first 3 in their events at Macclesfield in the Under 15 and older age groups will have received letters concerning the North of England Inter-county championships to be held at Cudworth (near Barnsley) on SATURDAY 20 AUGUST. If you did not complete the slip, please do so if you are interested and return to Julie Hicken who is co-ordinating the returns. Although we do not have details of the events, it is likely we will be restricted to one athlete per event and Juniors will, if selected, compete in Senior events.
Julie will be acting as Team Manager for the Under 15 and Under 17 age groups, and Ashley Pritchard and Pauline Lynch as Team Managers for the senior age group.
