Athletics reorganisation – Update.
Reorganisation of athletics in England is progressing, although no formal communications have yet been sent out by England Athletics, nor the NW Region.
In the present interim time, the NoEAA has been asked to continue to issue Permits for events into 2007 (so keep applying to Adrian until notified of other arrangements) as well as to carry out some other administration duties until the new body takes them on.
We understand that England athletics will be contacting all clubs, etc other affiliation early in 2007. We have no knowledge of what affiliation fees are likely or even if there will be membership fees to pay – but the advice to clubs is to budget on the same sort of levels as you have paid to the NoEAA for 2006.
The NoEAA have progressed their proposals for a new
structure to provide competition (their only role in the new structure) through the General Committee and the proposals will now be presented to member clubs to decide at an EGM/AGM on 28th October in Leeds.

NoEAA Inter-county Track & Field Champiomships, Gateshead, 30 July.
Congratulations to the Cheshire teams for performing so well at Gateshead against teams from other Counties in the North. All teams achieved good positions, with the senior Mens team finishing second.
Cheshire had one of the largest teams (over 40 athletes) at Gateshead despite the distance they had to travel. Many thanks to Julie Hicken for taking on the role of team manager and getting such a magnificent turn out. The County contributed towards the travel costs and we hope to get some of the cost back from NoEAA.

Far-reaching proposals for a major change to the YAL have been proposed by Sutton St Helens, seconded by Wigan and circulated to Clubs in the area. The idea is that all, or some of the proposals, which are intended to be discussed separately, should be implemented in time for the start of the 2007 season. Club representatives should study the proposals carefully.
