Any Northern athlete wishing to be considered for selection for the following fixtures should contact Rob Cameron (link on NA website) – 9 September Cardiff 10K; 10 October Chichester Priory 10K (incorporating AAA Champs; 25 November Leeds Abbey Dash 10K.

 

John Driscoll has forwarded fixture lists for the coming six months to Northern Athletics and these can be viewed on the NA web site.  However, Northern Athletics no longer has responsibility for maintaining the lists and it is recognised that they will become increasingly incomplete.  Road race permits are now managed by Athletics Services who have stated that fixture lists will be drawn up..

CROSS COUNTRY PERMITS

Please note that there is a change to cross country permits from this month.  Permit applications for cross country events are to be sent directly to the Northern Athletics Office in Dewsbury (Judith Temperton) who will issue the Permits.  AdrianThiemicke has an electronic copy of the new Permit application form.

 

FELL RUNNING

The Cheshire Fell Running Championships have been incorporated into the Passing Clouds Race, to be held on October 28th from “The Winking Man” on the Buxton to Leek road at 11am; distance 9 miles.  Race Secretary is John Amies - full details are on the Congleton Harriers web site.  Entry forms can be downloaded from the Cheshire AA website.

Congratulations to Charlotte Roach (Vale Royal)  who won Gold in the U23 Inter-Regional Match at Derby held on 19 August.  Charlotte also collected her second Northern title (U20 3000m) at Trafford in mid-August to add to the 1500m title won at Wavertree in July.

 

England U15&U17 Combined Events at Stoke on 18 and 19 August – Jack Andrew (Macc) was 5th in the U17 Youths match, with Mike Lyness (West Cheshire) in 14th place.  Katie Gardner (City of Stoke) was  in 10th position in the U15 girls pentathlon, with Tom Booth (West Cheshire) finishing in 8th place in the boys’ event.  However, in the Northern Combined Events, congratulations are further due to Jack Andrew who came away with Gold and received an invitation to compete for England in a match due to be held at Stoke in September.  Tom Booth took Bronze in his age group.

 

Cheshire T&F League – After Round 3 – West Cheshire AC are leading the U11s table, with Crewe and Nantwich leaders in the Ladies’ League.  Macclesfield are winning in the Mens’ League and are leaders overall.

Eligibility Rule Change – w.e.f 1 August responsibility for reviewing and determining eligibility as it relates to Club membership within England will be transferred to England Athletics – existing Territorial Eligibility Committees will be disbanded.  For further information see Cheshire AA website.

 

Northern Athletics can now offer athletes the chance to enter events via a new on-line entry system.  The system uses paypal for payment.
